UGA Terry College of Business, Director of Diversity Relations
Randy Groomes serves as the Director of Diversity Relations at the Terry College of Business. In this role, he works with faculty, staff, students and the business community on issues related to diversity. He established a series of diversity workshops to train students and professionals on leveraging diversity and building more effective teamwork to drive innovation and create more value for organizations. In addition, Mr Groomes instructs the William and Barbara Beckham Workforce Diversity Certificate. The certificate program is endowed by a generous gift.
Experienced in both corporate and educational leadership, Groomes managed a multi-state book of business for a national insurance carrier and held regional responsibilities for the diversity marketing efforts. While at the company, he also served on the corporate advisory board for the CEO and helped develop their Corporate Strategic Diversity Plan which lifted the company into the top 10 companies on DiversityInc’s Top 50 list.
Randy previously served on the Board of Advisors for the United Way of Clayton County, president of the Fulton Parks Foundation, president of the Atlanta Association of Insurance Professionals and was appointed to a state-wide advisory board by a previous Georgia Insurance Commissioner.
Mr. Groomes has a degree in Risk Management and Insurance and a Master of Business Administration, both from the University of Georgia. He consults with business leaders and speaks on diversity issues for national and international professional organizations and conferences. Randy and his wife Tonya live in Lawrenceville, GA and have two daughters.
